Hi,
TL,DR: I need advice in ergonomy to avoid injuries and to buy a new bike. My first idea is to make a bike fitting and then buy the bike online.
I started bicycle touring last year. I only did two weekend trips, but I have been cycling a lot since last spring, and I normally commute by bike to work (around 250 km/month).
Last year, I got second hand Giant SCR-2 and I added all the gear for short trips. I am happy with the bike so far but I wanted something more suitable for longer trips, my options are:
I wanted to include Fuji touring in the list, but it seems that the website is down.
Unfortunately no touring bike is available in any of the LBS around me. I tried finding other touring bike brands, but I got the same results.
I decided that I will order it online. However, I don't like the idea of buying a bike without trying first. To minimize the chances of regretting my future purchase I thought that I could do a bike fitting first.
My questions are:
- Can they recreate the dimensions of a bike if I give them the model information? In that way, I could do the fitting and see how it works for me before buying it.
- Where can I find information about ergonomic to void injuries in long term touring trips?
- I read a lot about Hbar but I never tried one, Is it better for comfort in long trips?
- Should I just buy a frameset and build my own custom bike? I just know how to do basic maintenance, but I 'm not in a hurry either.
