I rode 20 miles on my Specialized Tarmac S-Works, climbing about 1,500 feet. The day was dry but brutally windy, with relentless headwinds. Starting from Exeter, I followed the roads to the picturesque coastal village of Lympstone. Along the way, I chatted about my strong dislike for solar farms and wind turbines. I finished the ride by pedaling through the charming little town of Topsham. These observations form the essence of this outing.

My observations are the subject of this ride. So come along and enjoy another great cycling adventure.

  1. With the chances of this consistent weather of rain and wind being manufactured, which in turn kills crops and causes issues for farmers to earn what money they can from their own land. You can see why they are offered good money for the use of their land for solar and wind and the farmers take it, as some have no choice but to. With the cost to the land and the cost to implement solar and wind we now know it doesn’t pay and it’s more intrusive to our land than good.

  2. I agree with you. I think Wind turbines are ugly and ruin the scenery of coastal areas. And they aren't cost effective. As well as killing birds. And Solar panels on houses are fine but not in countryside settings. Also I think Electric Buses are a gargantuan waste of money.

  3. Totally agree there Harvey, Solar farms have taken thousands of productive arable land out of use. Having seen the destruction of the ground when the panels are installed I'm sure that the ground will not be very usable after the panels useful life has expired. I see you had the usual mix of patience and impatience drivers, seem to think it's only a bike it don't matter if I pass close. As always, another great video. Take care riding!

  4. Hi Harvey busy little ride that nice mind .i feel the same way you do with solar it’s getting everywhere now and even today on a walk a 350 acre of stunning farm land looking awful now 🤬🤦🏻‍♂️stay safe mate 🚴💨👍

  5. Am a fan of Solar, Wind, Nuclear, and Geothermal. Not a fan of Hydro. I also own Solar for my home. These all have their place. For wind, I believe the installations should be smaller and more localized.

  6. The problem with nuclear is the cost. Hinckley Point C will be in excess of £129/MWH when it comes online, compared with £44/MWH for on-shore wind and £33/MWH for off-shore. Bird strikes on wind turbines is actually very small, certainly not "tens of thousands" like you said – anti-renewable propaganda. Having worked in the wind energy business for around a decade I hardly ever saw any dead birds in and around the turbines. Wind regularly produces more than 50% of the UK's energy needs. I'm not a fan of solar farms though.

  7. The Eastern counties fields are being covered in solar panels, meaning more imported food, crazy! If planning concent meant every new house had to have solar panels to support its needs we could save our farmland. Factories and warehouses should be the same.

  8. You did well queezing through some of those gaps. I would hate being a removal van driver in those narrow roads, where do they park to load furnature in those small terraced house roads? What make is your orange top, nice and bright for winter days?

  9. I'd rather see nuclear. We have wind farms in Northern MO, Iowa area. Horrible looking and many are breaking all the time too. The coal plants are clean. the technology on the discharge having scrubbers' guts emissions down a lot! The tornados in the Midwest are a windfarm worse enemy- and we have a lot. The landowners get paid a lot of money for the windfarm leases. It's almost not worth spending money on leases, where's the savings in that. I know, I have a relative who gets thousands a year leasing out his land for a wind turbine.
