Hi 👋
I'm a bit of a newbie to cycling in general, with virtually no experience with bikes with gears. I’ve been riding a cheap/nasty MTB that is terrifying down hills and barely gets up them.
Today I went in and tested the Sirrus X 3.0 2026 model and it felt pretty good. They didn't have the 2027 model instore but after looking up the specs, I'm trying to work out if the extra AU$150 for the 2027 is worthwhile.
I'll be using the bike for commuting approx 20km roundtrip with at least one big climb in both directions, and a mix of road and rough bike paths along a river. I'd like to be able to do some very light dirt track walking/riding trails but nothing too hairy.
I imagine the frames are the same and it looks like the drivetrain goes from 1×9 11-42T (2026) to 1×11 11-50T (2027). Everything else looks basically the same, but I could be wrong.
Would the 1×11 be any better for dealing with hills? Is there any other factors I should consider? I'm happy with any of the colour options between the two.
