  1. To protect myself from pickpockets, I have bought a crossbody bag to wear under my coat. I was in France in 1997 (just a month after Princess Diana’s crash 💔) when I was 19 but I did not experience pickpockets then. I was carrying a briefcase-like bag that I’m tempted to bring again to recreate photos of me at the Louvre and Sacré-Coeur! It was not pickpocket-friendly! 😄👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

  3. Just back from Paris yesterday. No problem with the metro except once – Chatelet. Is that part of Les Halles? I noticed on your video it said ‘Les Halles Chatelet’.
Anyway, c’etait un vrai cauchemar!! Took us ages to get out, it was a maze.
We had been using Line 4 to get to our station in the 6th Arrondissement (Odeon), and there was no problem with that.
However, one day, we had been walking around for a bit and decided to get the metro back to our hotel. But where we were (just off the Champs Elysee) didn’t cover Line 4, so we thought we’d use Line 1 from Franklin Roosevelt and alight at Chatelet, and walk the rest (wasn’t far).
Wouldn’t do that again. Maybe use the stop before or after.

  4. Barbes Rochechouart is probably the worst station I’ve used here. It seems to be sketchy at all times, as with the majority of line 2, which is the only line in the city where I don’t feel safe.

  5. Precisely because it has 20 exits makes Chatelet the best metro station. You can come out 5 minutes from the Louvre or 5 mins from Notre Dame avoiding the pick pocket filled stations. It does entail long underground walks avoiding the rain or midsummer heat.

  6. Ha. I've used quite a few of these stations, and I quite like Saint-Lazare (from line 14). Never had a problem, but there's always a first time. We're planning to visit Paris later this year.

  7. I travelled through the mentioned stations and did not have problems, it is true that last time was in 2018, probably now is much worse. I was confused in Les Halles, because reading an arrow right-downwards I went right-backwards, instead it meant to go right-forwards. All arrows for forward there are downwards, except for descending. I saw scammers betting "white-black" at the base of Sacré-Coeur, later arrested by police.

  8. Our favorite metro station to get to the Eiffel tower is Trocadero. The view from the balcony on the plaza, immediately as you get out of the metro station, are the iconic. Also, I always carry a decoy wallet on my back pocket and the real one inside a money belt. The decoy wallet contains nothing but some choice words. I have been very disappointed that it has never been taken in a dozen trips to Paris.

  9. Paris should hire more security at Metro stations known to harbor pick pocketers. I’ve been to Paris six times and never been pick pocketed or seen pick pockets, but I know they exist.

  10. Les hall, me as not parisian don’t get lost. Tuilleries beatufyl and easy never got robbed ever in metro, just don’t look like tourists as you still do even if you consider parisien mdr
