Yes. That’s a good price. I just sold a 2025 – checkpoint sl5 for $2500.00 on fbm. Hope this helps.

  2. Fantastic gravel bike – I had the same one by a smaller size. The Shimano components are great. Not familiar with the rims, but I I9’s are nice hubs. That being said – I’m seeing new Warbirds online for $2,599… so unless these wheels are nice carbon, might be better geetting a brand new one?

Excellent bike. It’s really light and nimble. I test rode a few before buying a different bike, it was just too much bike for me.

The i9 hubs are really nice and responsive and sound great too.

I have the grx drivetrain on my gravel bike, it’s excellent. Very reliable, never needs much adjusting or maintenance, fairly wide range for what it is.

I love salsa bikes too, great brand. I had a vaya 105 years ago and put thousands of miles on it.

I believe REI had this bike for sale. For like 300 less. Plus straight outta the box.

  5. I’ve got a 2019 Warbird and it’s a killer frame that I’ll probably rebuild and update as long as I can. It’s one of the OG gravel race bikes, Salsa was playing chess before everybody else joined the market.

I’ve done 6000 ft road climbs, 3000ft chunky gravel mountain passes, green/blue singletrack… Basically whatever and whenever I want drop bars, it’s the perfect bike.

I am not super knowledgeable about drop bar geometry, but I do think the warbird tends to be a bit more of a race-y gravel bike. Bit twitchier than some, but nothing to be concerned about even if you’re new to cycling. It’ll be fine and be great to grow with. I do everything and love mine.

With an extra set of wheels this seems like a no brainer. Keep a set focused on road and another setup for gravel. Do a tap test around the frame before you buy it to make sure it’s not damaged.
