My husband and I want to do our first biking trip in Europe this Summer, preferably near Barcelona in July (we would watch the Tour de France grand depart and then start our own biking trip). We’re aiming to ride ~70-80km per day for 4-5 days.
The problem is we both have road bikes that can’t fit tires larger than 32mm, so I’m worried about the paths and surfaces. Can a road bike handle an unpaved path if it's relatively smooth? I’ve looked at this route from Girona which has a mixture of surfaces – can anyone speak to this route?
I’m also open to other routes, so let me know if you’d recommend something entirely different. We’re willing to spend some time traveling elsewhere if it’s worth it. We even briefly considered a ferry to Mallorca but I haven’t looked into it enough. Thank you!
