Welcome to Afan MTB trails in the Welsh Valleys.

If you haven’t heard of Afan MTB trails, then just know it has both trail centre offerings and some really gnarly enduro-style trails for those wanting to scare themselves.

I went to find out what Afan was like from the perspective of a normal rider, and boy did the trails escalate. What started off as a fairly chilled out ride, turned into one of the most challenging rides I’ve ever been on. The off-piste trails at Afan MTB, are steep, technical and just savage. So join me for another Welsh mountain biking adventure. I think you’re going to enjoy this video.

If you are new to my videos then expect to see high quality riding vlogs shot in the same style as McTrail Rider and BKXC. I try to travel to the best MTB locations in Scotland finding you the best mountain biking trails to ride, enjoy and explore.

  1. The trails definitely got a bit spicy as you went along 😅, how you manage not to swear is beyond me 😂, top video as always mate 👌

  2. Awesome stuff. We ride Afan once a year but not tried these. Did you have a GPX file at all? Would be super helpful to get the right trails. Keep em coming, cheers buddy👍

  3. Great vid, I seen you on this day at my mates @Bethal Chapel Cafe. Was wondering if you got any footage. Masts are definitely not for the faint hearted. 👍👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🍻

  4. Glad to see you enjoyed the masts, and how you ended it there, is close to the words a friend of mine said to me when he started taking me to the masts… “If you can ride the masts, you can ride anywhere!” 😂 Great video.

  5. Trails look great! You rode them well. Welsh Trails always look very steep and techy. As you said if you can ride those trails you could pretty much ride any trails. 😃🤙🤙🤙

  6. Bike park Wales looks amazing, need to get myself down to Wales at some point which would you do for a first visit bike park Wales or Dyfi? well ridden pleasure to watch thanks for sharing Jamie! 😁🤙

  7. Been years since I rode my old stomping ground off Afan. Rode those trails as a teenager back in later 80’s! Lol😅 steel full rigid with a £5 Halfords light. Single track was a minimum so mainly rough fire roads at best. Prefer bpw though. My annual pilgrimage back home

  8. Only came here to listen to a grown ass man swear like a 5 year old and listen to cheese electro from 30 years ago, not disappointed 😂
    Just kidding. Loved the video👍🏼

  9. That was great to watch. I know exactly that feeling of thinking you may have bitten off more than you can chew but then making it and feeling relieved but still knowing it could have gone so wrong 😊 Keep the videos coming 👍👍

  10. First time I rode Afan it was back in 2022, I did W2 and Y wall, 50 km almost 2000m altitude and took my 8 hours to complete. One of the best rides ever.

  11. I used to live near Brechfa and rode the forest trails every week – the off piste trails were awesome but riding off piste at bike park wales is another level.

  12. You are a better rider than you give yourself credit for… i am in the middle of getting back into dhmtb…. been nearly 30s years since i did it last… i bought a crappy muddy fox bike… granted, i bent the front wheel 2 days ago, but ive been hitting trails prerry much straight away…just like the one that you claimed was right at your limit… (2 trails before connect four), i will be buying a much better bike next month meaning these trails are going to be hit as well soon 🙏 and i cannot wait 😁 enjoying these videos… but give yourself.more credit man 🙏🙏

  13. Afan Trail centre, "These mountains are steep, lets build the trails across the contours…"

Afan Masts trail builder, "These mountains are steep, lets build a trail straight down!"

    😂😂

  14. Hope your well, merry Xmas!

Heading to Afan in March. Try to go a couple times a year but never done any off piste/masts stuff. Always glyncorrwg trails or Afan Forest trail centre trails where you started in this video. Have you got a GPX file for the route you did in the video?
    Cheers
