Hi everyone,
I found a Trek Madone SLR 7 Gen 7 (Ultegra Di2) for $5,100. It's in great condition, but I wanted to get a sanity check from the community before pulling the
trigger.
A few quick questions:
• Price: Is $5.1k fair for this spec right now, or should I try to haggle more?
• Gen 7 vs. Gen 8: Does anyone regret sticking with the Gen 7 instead of upgrading to the lighter Gen 8?

That seems reasonable, especially with those upgrade wheels.
I’ve had a Gen7 and a gen8. The gen8 is definitely more comfortable but the speed is basically the same. Most people wouldn’t notice the difference.
TOO triangular
Do you know and trust the seller? On the Trek site these bikes sell for about 6k so for 1k more you’d be buying a fully inspected, tuned and refreshed bike vs 3rd party. I think I’d want more of a discount from a 3rd party unless I knew them and trusted how its been ridden and didn’t have any hidden issues.
I’d get this over a Gen 8 all day. I think 5100 is reasonable with the wheel upgrade, the RSL are super nice
Incredibly rare to find a Gen 7. This happens to be the nicer colour way as well. If I were to ever get one it’d be this not the new and nerfed Gen 8s that look like sticks. This actually looks like a proper mean aero machine.Â
Wonder how it weighs thoughÂ
Yeah, I think that is a good deal. They have sunk nearly $3000 into it with the wheel upgrade alone on it. So in total about 10,000, so you are getting at 50% discount.
