I didn't check the rear cog before handing it over to the local bike shop to do a comprehesive service. It was given back to me with a loose stem now im thinking that they didn't put back the rear hub correctly. Am I right?

small cog is definitely not sitting right. looks like the lockring is sitting a little wonky, too. if you dont feel comfortable working on your own bike take it back.
i would not go back to this shop if they gave me the bike back like that
The loose stem is infuriating for me because it should be burned into every bike mechanics brain to check that before handing it over. The cog is annoying too because it’s such an easy thing to notice. Albeit also an easy thing to do when you’re in a hurry.
We torque everything to spec at my shop regardless of the lever of service. You should make them torque it infront of you.
