planning my route from Bulgarian Coastline Athens, possibly detouring to Istanbul.
Looking for gravel to mtb routes, not a big fan of riding tarmac.
Once in the area, considering doing either hellenic mountain race or bike odysee from bikepacking.com, both, at touring pace.

I live in Los Angeles with some of the worst traffic and drivers in the country. I have no problem riding around here.
I have been to Athens recently. I would never in a million years ride a bicycle for leisure around there. Easily the least safe set of roads, road laws and drivers I’ve ever been around.
Beautiful area, but it was terrifying in a car, let alone on a bike.
