  1. not only Japanese small villages look deserted – I have driven around small villages in France and Germany where houses were shuttered, and there was nobody in the streets (workers drove to work in nearby larger towns), and some where I felt someone was at home, but they weren't coming out for a stranger …

  4. Shikoku is… hopeless. it wasn't connected to the Shinkansen the fast bullet train network. the Japanese government needs to build at least one new bridge to achieve that but they don't have the money. the terrain on the Shikoku is 90% mountain which makes it impossible to build any big cities. its economic activities are severly detach from the rest of Japan, even worse than Hokkaidou. no one knows how to bring Shikoku back to life.

  5. Simple move corporations out of Tokyo and Osaka and into smaller cities and towns. Both Tokyo and Osaka are ant hills. No city should be bigger than
Sapporo. Start depopulating these monster cities

  6. Hello from the US! I just subscribed to your channel. I love to visit small towns. This one is so beautiful and so peaceful. I would love to go there one day. Thanks for the video!

  7. We have stayed in Hiwasa a number of times, during our Shikoku Hachijuhachi pilgrimages, and it is like much of Shikoku, quiet and tranquil with an aging and very generous population. Unfortunately, we were unable to find any accommodation there last November, as everything was booked for a big meeting related to Turtle Museum. Cafe Tanihyou Sabou is a charming place for a snack and Oyado Hiwasa a wonderful place to rest up for a couple of days. Your video evokes such a good feeling and sweet memory of Hiwasa.

  8. My first time buying grocery in Japan, the young lady kindly bag the items I bought since I was the only customer. We just smile to each other with my few Nihongo at that time.

  9. I remember my Japanese mentor always bring me bread and butter in my bachelor Apāto in which 2 floors down is a production line. My first Okonomiyaki was in Kurashiki

  10. It's interesting how the Japanesse design of the interior of the house reminds me of The Palace of Knosos – Crete in the sense that they seem at ease with rectangular geometry that excludes entirely the curve line. This relates to me a bit with their spirit of formality and organisation.

  11. I just ran across your video by chance. Very relaxing. Reminds me that there is so much to explore in this world! Thank you for the video 🙂
