This is all new to me so don’t be too critical. I posted another thread about acquiring this a few days ago but this sub won’t let me post photos in the comments section so I figured I’d update here.

This is a Schwinn Suburban that I narrowed down to a 1974 manufacture date. It had been in a garage for about five years. The tires and inner tubes were in decent shape and the brakes and gears appeared to work. I got it home and cleaned out the gear assembly, adjusted the seat and handlebar height, loosened, lubed, and retightened everything I could, pumped up the tires, greased the chain and polished the seat. I took off the fenders and chain cover to clean them but I think I’ll just leave them off because it relieves some of the considerable weight of the bike and I think it gives it a more modern look.

I took it for a spin and it’s actually a really comfortable and smooth ride. The brakes are kind of trash right now because I need to replace the pads and the steel rims don’t help.

I think I’ll use it when I need to pop down to the store from time to time. Here’s a before and after.
