Just picked up a "used" Salsa Blackthorn Deore 12. The shop I got it from had purchased for a rental 2 years ago and never ended up renting it, not once 🤯 I picked it up for $1300 and found a Fox 36 factory (new takeoff) online for $400. so I am not sitting on the below bike at an all in cost of $1700. Did quite a good amount of mountain biking on a hardtail when i was younger (15ish years ago) but been nothing but pavement and dirt roads ever since. This is my first FS and was looking for a bike I could grow into. Super excited to get on the trails!

Questions:

  1. How'd I do?

  2. Anyone currently riding this model and have pointers?

  3. What would you recommend upgrading, if anything?

  4. Anyone riding in the Grand Junction, CO area?
