Hey there,
Today morning I found that my wife's bike was stolen yesterday evening in Austria, Graz.
It's a poison-green BMC TwoStroke Al One, here are the photos of the bike and tracking screenshots.
I installed an AirTag to the bike, so now we can receive time-to-time updates on the bike location. It seems it's traveling by car, through Austria and now in Hungary (probably to Budapest?).
Not sure if anything can be done here… I reported it to the austrian police, but I doubt they are very enthusiastic in finding it, as it's not that much expensive bike (normal, not e-bike), and they have no info besides the lagging AirTag locations without real-time tracking.
Here is the route till now:
Graz – Maierhofen (Styria) – Jennersdorf – Öskü (Hungary) – 13:45 Budapest – 14:37 moving out of Budapest – … ?
Will update the info as soon as I can.
UPD. Arrived to Budapest around 13:45, also ~13:53 here nearby on the road
UPD. 14:37, moving out of Budapest heading east by M3 / E71

That sucks dude. Sorry that happened too you and your wife.
On another note, didn’t think an AirTag would track that far. I’ve been planning on putting an AirTag on my bikes, but these leaves me with an uneasy feeling.
I think your Bike is going to Romania or Bulgaria
Report it, with tracking.
Interpol LOVES proving their purpose by connecting local police forces and catching international thieves. Also, villages are fragmented landscape, so it’s relatively easy to pair coordinates with address compared to an apartment complex.
Let me guess in the black box on the seat post?
I’m from Budapest. If you consent I’ll watch the local marketplaces if they try to sell it I’ll contact you and will call the local police. Hope the best.
Edit:
Plaease provide a status update this evening whether it still stays in the neigborhood or just moved out from the city.
Damn, the time stamps are wild, they are acting pretty quick!
Good to know the bike arrived safely.
I’m sorry this happened to you. I think it won’t stop in Budapest but will travel further east/southeast.
Next time report to the police immediatly, especially if you have a tracker installed. At least in switzerland, the police are often happy to help and use the tracking data to catch them. Chances are they have 20+ bikes loaded in a van/truck and you’re not the only one with a stolen bike.
Sorry to hear, keep us posted if you have any luck!
I know this doesn’t help you, but I have an AirTag hidden on my bike. I was able to open up the AirTag and remove the speaker from it so it doesn’t make sounds. I hope they don’t find your locator device and I hope you find your bike.
Hey OP, check Romanian reseller sites, like [olx.ro](http://olx.ro), in a couple of days. Sadly, I do know a couple of people who do this for a living…
When if first stops for a bit, get the address, then harass them, like in a movie.
Maybe report it to hungarian police, too.
