  1. Service the suspension if you haven’t, make sure everything is 100%, brakes bled, pivot bearings running smoothly etc.

At a quick looks it looks like you could use a longer dropper

  2. Depends on what you feel it’s lacking. Want more stopping power, crisper shifting, more dropper clearance? Sometimes just putting new grips and pedals can feel like a good change.

If you’re just wanting to spend some money, poke around places like jenson and wolf tooth and see if anything on sale looks like fun. Maybe see if Cascade Components has a rear link for your model?

Upgrade the rear shock to a float x or super deluxe ultimate, maybe a cascade link after that if you need more travel

  4. Need more what? Travel? Seems like you just simply have the new bike itch. Don’t make the mistake I did, upgrade it and then still have the new bike itch and end up buying a new bike anyways. Just save, sell and buy a new bike. Or just keep riding it.

  5. What about it do you feel like is holding you back?

For bikes 2018-ish and earlier I’d recommend getting an actual upgrade. But I feel like since 2020 or so on most bikes have pretty much hit the sweet spots with all the modern breakthroughs in geometry and you aren’t gaining any crazy advances by upgrading, you’re probably just changing styles or travel. I put pretty much all the SC bikes with a lower linkage into the “modern” category.

If you feel like the bike can’t quite get you through rowdier trails then a longer travel bike is probably in your future. If you are really just looking to upgrade your existing bike and not swap for a newer one a lot of people really like replacing the stock linkage with a cascade link. it increases the travel from 120mm to 128mm and gives it a more progressive leverage ratio so it can handle chunky stuff better. That with a slightly longer fork like a 140mm or even 150mm fork would slacken the bike a few degrees and make it want to point downhill more than up.

Also dont ignore tires. Some folks sleep on trying new tires, especially from different brands.

  6. Not much will make this bike feel radically different. Switching to a mullet setup is the only change that could dramatically alter how it feels to ride this setup.

I’d say you should think about what you want from riding and how your bike could change to achieve that. New frame geometry would totally change your experience and there are a lot of options. A another bike would probably truly help you figure out what you want from your setups and riding style. Gotta try new things to find what you’ve been missing. N+1.

  7. I personally like a stiffer and more aggressive fork. You could try a pike with 10cm more travel.

Needs nothing, maybe some ODI grips. Just ride that bike and replace the brake pads and tires when the time comes.
