Is there enough slack in the rear derailleur cable?
I'm swapping out my 8-speed for 12-speed. The cable housing is from my last build. Do you think there is sufficient slack or should I lengthen a wee bit?
if by “cable” you mean “housing” and if by “slack” you mean “length”, the yes.
the ideal housing length is where the housing enters/exits the braze-on cable stop and barrel adjuster. the housing should be inline with both. Any sharp entry/exit angle degrades the quality of the shift.
so, yes. You have a spot on length. Looks very clean and professional. Nice job 🙂

Looks okay to me. Did you ever have issues getting it to shift before? If not if housing length is fine.Â
Also, is that hub compatible with 12 speed? You can probably do 11 but usually 12 is designed a little differently.Â

I’d go the tiniest bit longer. Those Campag barrel adjusters are a known weak point since 9 speed days, so a straight entrance helps with long term durability.
That being said, it should be fine. If you don’t have extra housing lying around I would just go with this. It’s minor.
