I have around $4k to spend on a new bike and looking for advice. I currently have a first gen Cervelo Aspero which I love but the tire clearance is tight 45 in front 40 in rear. I plan to keep it and use it as a road bike.

I do some gravel racing but I am not podium hunting. I do a lot of 75-150 mile rides of mixed terrain road, gravel, and trials.

Like I'm currently considering are Lauf Seigla, Ari Shafer, Giant Revolt. I've also considered buying a cool aluminum frame like the blackheart Al or the massacan paula and getting carbon wheels.

Anyone have thoughts on how to beat decision paralysis.

  1. Lauf seems to continue to be the best value in that price range. 99 spokes did a video on the lauf last year which convinced me to get one https://youtu.be/4qNmRymXzNs?si=gUClFRErjBhEWvYm

I have nothing to contribute to your decision making but I own an Aspero as well. What tire did you use in the front at a 45? Did you try the 45 on the rear at all?

  3. I love my ‘22 giant revolt Adv 1, 1x SRAM Rival that has tire clearance up to 53mm. I ride 45mm and love it. You could easily race this bike. As they introduce their UDH model for 2027 (a guess), there may be great deals to be had. Just my $ 0.02.

  4. I put about 2k miles on my Lauf last summer in Western MT. I would 100% recommend it to anyone with your price range. My only issue with it is lack of mounting points for bikepacking (you can find creative solutions). As a fellow non podium seeker (b/c group FTW) comfort was a huge priority.

  5. I think Seigla and Revolt are the 2 best all around gravel bikes available, and they also both happen to be extremely good value. I went with Seigla because it was a better value for the top end build (Revolt has some cheaper builds Lauf does not tho), I loved the True Grit fork, and I wanted the extra tire clearance to ensure G-One Speed Pro 2.35 would fit.
