After a long incredibly steep climb, I am exhausted to finish my ride to Semonkong. What a wonderful country, the scenery is gorgeous along the way, and the people keep on smiling. As I approach Semonkong, the donkey hats (Basotho traditional hats) start to appear. I am hungry. I look for fat cakes at the bottom of my last climb for today, but there are no fat cakes available… I will finish my ride hungry. As I stop at a viewpoint, I discover the gorge of the Maletsunyane river, what an incredible place! I talk to some friendly Basotho before finally arriving in Semonkong, a place I visited 12 years ago, a place like no other on our planet.
