I am on my 3rd set of 700x35c 35-622 Bontrager Connection hybrid tires. This is the model tire that came with the bike. They seem to work fine for my needs. I am ignorant. Any suggestions for better options when I replace them in the next 4-8 weeks. Should I look at 38s? I would like to potentially go faster with the same or better safety.
97% of my rides are entirely on paved streets and trails and never gravel. Every couple week I make a 50-mile ride that includes about 6 miles of unpaved track on the Illinois and Michigan Canal Trail. I commute and run errands the bike also.
I have a couple riding goals for the year.
- 100 miler with that Komoot reports has 44 miles of unpaved, 6 miles compacted gravel trail.
- Railroad Pennsylvania to Annapolis Maryland, 73 miles. 21 miles compacted gravel.

I have zero problems with the tire. It is no longer available.
Thanks

pathfinder or similar style gravel tire with slick center strip would be better on pavement
rene herse knobbies are the better version of that tread style but are completely unnecessary for your use case
even GP5k 35s can handle that sort of smooth “gravel”
