First pic is .75 second is .5. It’s a shimano Claris groupset and the manual says .75 is the limit. I’m just curious if the gauge is supposed to be able to freely go in between the links or if how close it is now is about time?
The chain has stretched to .75 when the gauge drops in between the rollers. If the edge of the gauge that’s closer to the hooked end hits the roller, your chain is extremely stretched.
Edit: your chain looks totally fine.

The gauge is supposed to be too long to drop between the rollers, which it is. When the chain stretches, the gauge will drop into that gap.
