There have been clashes over a Solihull cycle lane which a councillor has called the most ‘unpopular scheme ever carried out’ by Solihull Council.
In 2022 the cycleway track – going in both directions – was installed on Blossomfield Road between its junction with Dorchester Road and Widney Lane.
Later changes were made to improve signage, create ramps at bus stops for pedestrian and cycle movements and the use of wands to separate cyclists and vehicles at junctions.
Council figures show an increase of 41 per cent in cycling along Blossomfield Road in recent years since the implementation of the cycleway – but the route has come under fire from some residents.
Click on the article in the comments to see how much it could be to remove the cycle lane, and the discussions about the future of the cycle lane.
