  1. I think the main issue here for the carbon gravel bikes is clearance. On my cannondale top stone I use the quick rack with the eyelets, and I am 2cm away clearance wise. So the height would not work with the thru axle connection. I wish it did though!

  2. It is a great alternative if you don’t have any eyelets or as you said for bike where you shouldn’t clamp the seat stays but if any of these two options are possible I would prefer these, especially the using the eyelets as on the thru axle you always have to undo the richer hand adapter in case you need to take out your axle e.g. when having to repair your tyre…

  3. What if you have a steel or Ti frame that has rack mounts. The axle is nice but it’s not necessary and makes removing the rear wheel more inconvenient

  4. I really don't see the advantage of the thru axle system. Good luck getting that wheel out if you need to fix a puncture.

Remove the pannier, remove the rack, remove the thru axle remove the wheel.

Instead of remove the thru axle, remove the wheel.

  5. Been living off a bicycle for a decade. Ortleib has simply performed flawlessly. 10yrs of living out of their panniers. Wonderf stuff. Know your/you're love

  6. Unfortunately the ortlieb doesnt fit tires 29x 2.5 and bigger unless you use the eyelets. I almost bought this rack for my fargo for the gdmtr for a cheaper qr rack vs tailfin..so now im thinking to heck with weight and going old man mountain divide rack

  7. It would have been essential to see how the rack attaches. Seems like that's the whole point of the video. But we don't get to see how it works.

  8. I have this rack. Have it. But what makes Tailfin more attractive is that their axle is universal so you can use it on all your bikes, and the Cargopack with the top opening is just so much more practical than a strapped dry bag or panniers for off road or race pace.
