Hi. So today I bought a new road bike and I noticed this on the frame near the seatpost. Is my frame cracked? Should I return the bike? by 7ysiu Bicycling Biking Cycling
Reasonable_Loquat874 on February 18, 2026 7:16 pm It sure looks like a crack. I would 100% return this.
dread_pi on February 18, 2026 7:24 pm No crack, just some paint damage from the seatpost clamp. White is the thickest and heaviest paint.
austinmiles on February 18, 2026 7:27 pm Yep. This definitely seems like a flaw that shouldn’t be on any bike much less a new one.
Thylacine- on February 18, 2026 7:52 pm To be put simply: – You bought a thing – You’re unhappy with the thing – Return the thing There is nothing reddit can tell you that will stop you from looking at that little crack/paint chip and feeling a bit unhappy.

Call me blind but I see no crack but just raw carbon.

Looks just like a crack in the thick paint layer.
