Day 1: Went on a small bike ride around my town(15km) There was salt, water(melted snow) and lots of sand(salt shortage from where i am) and some dirt. I left my bike untouched after for that night with no cleaning or anything.
Day 2: went on a small short ride maybe 5km, got it dirty again but this time I sprayed it with a hose and got dirt and salt off the dryer carefully.
Day 3 (Today): no ride or anything but I come back to a bike with rust everywhere. Rust is on parts of crank, in pedals, seatpost, random bolts and screws on bike. Then the worst is my chain, sprocket and possibly hub. The more I look at it,I get more and more worried.
I wanted to post this to see what I should do and how bad it is for my bike. I really hope it's not bad as this bike is pretty new and if i have to throw parts or the bike away I'm going to be very disappointed.
Rusty BMX Bike and parts, what to do?

WD40, a wire brush, and some rags should get it fairly well cleaned up
Follow up with a silicone spray oil after for the chain at least
No experience with snow and salt but did commutes where sea water would get to the road I pass by due to high tides or during stormy weather, I would rinse it after everytime I pass where salt water is present and instead of using traditional chain lube I would use grease to coat the chain.
Note that grease isn’t a lube alternative because of its viscosity it attracts dirt that will destroy your chain, casstte and chain ring.
As far as the drive train goes – muc off chain lube (or any MTB chain lube). If you’re feeling really ambitious take the chain off and soak it overnight but if not just drip it on each link and let it soak for 30 and wipe off excess. It’s just aesthetic rust in that short of time
Put some butter in it 🫡
