I’m looking to upgrade the brakes on my downhill bike (23 Scott gambler 920). I currently have DB8s and I don’t feel like they have enough power. Which of these brakes should I upgrade to?
If that’s your budget, why not buy some magura mt5s and swap out the levers for freedom coast levers

Sorry to basically ignore your question, but SRAM brakes are polarizing. Some don’t mind them, many can’t stand them. Are these really the best options for you?

Codes unless you’re very fast or heavy.

I would go with Mavens, personally I really liked them and they have amazing stopping power. Codes are also solid, that’s what I rock normally. But I did a demo with Mavens and was v impressed by it’s stopping power

I have both of these, Mavens on my big bike and Code Silvers on my XC bike. I’m 110kg+ in my riding gear.
I have 220/220mm rotors and sintered pads with the Mavens. They are insanely powerful. I don’t have any issues with lever weight, it takes a small flex of my finger to come to a complete stop from speed, I wouldn’t want them to be any lighter.
The Codes are 200/200mm rotors. They’re obviously not as powerful as the Mavens but they work well and are very consistent.
What is going to work best will depend how heavy you are and how fast you ride.

All the guys in my group are riding Maven or TRP. I’m the rare Shimano diehard on Saints still. Can’t get the damn things to break (not typo).

You might try some different pads. I have codes and they weren’t doing it for me so I upgraded to MTX pads and they have much better bite.
Do you have 200mm or larger rotors? Getting bigger rotors is always the cheaper option. You should try this first. If you’ve got 200 – get 220.
Other than that – the SRAM mavens have four pistons. So they’re the better option for DH.

I have Mavens on my e-bike. So far they have had all the power I could ever need. I’m also a fatass so they are getting worked.

Go with Hayes Domino a4. I have them on my dh bike and trail bike. Zero issues with them. SRAM will get anoying like all SRAM brakes do. I have not worked on Mavens, yet I hear good things, but like sram all good things do come to an end.
