I loved riding my bike as a kid but as I got older, busier, and out of shape, the idea of biking seemed exhausting and unrealistic for me. Well, about two months ago, my husband decided he wanted to start riding his bike after keeping a decade in storage – he had so much fun that it made me think maybe I want to try, too! Without much research as to different types of bikes, I snatched up a road bike from FB marketplace for a great deal and have enjoyed dinking around the neighborhood with it. Lately I’ve been going farther with it around my town and I feel like a kid again! I have a lot of training to do and am still quite out of shape, but I am actually looking forward to keeping up with the practice and getting better. This is a hobby that is going to stick around for awhile. Now that I know this, I want to get a few little accessories that would help with biking around town and feeling safe. I’m attaching pictures of my handles because I truly don’t know what will fit or what the options are! I definitely want a bell, and I would really like a mirror to be able to see if cars are coming behind me. Based on what I’ve got, any suggestions for accessories?
Like I said, I truly know nothing and would love advice from those with experience/who know what they’re talking about!
Besides accessories, of course I’ll always take any cycling advice in general, especially for a person just starting out. Thank you, all!

Lights (even during the day) and a helmet are the most important things.
You’ll want to by things that fit 31.8 mm handlebars.
These are some that I’ve been using:
[Cygolite Velocity Endurance 1,200](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CFC43FYT)
[Magene L308 Smart Tail Light](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CMHXPH5F)
Beyond that consider buying a bag to keep a spare tube and some tools in case you get a flat somewhere.
I’d also suggest trying to find a group ride in your area that will help you learn the routes to use to get around town and build some confidence about riding.
