My back rim fell the other day onto soft carpet and the cassette fell apart. I’ve read that it’s common for DTSwiss hubs and I would never get it to stay on again. Which is fine as once I put it together it rides well.

Buttt while it was apart I saw the ratchets and the 36T that comes with the bike is really silent and I want the loud ones as I could use them in place of a bell to warn people and now I am convinced I should get the 60T star ratchet from AliExpress but I want to find out if anyone had done it before to a new model bike and if there is anything I should look out for?

Some people say to get the ZTTO as they are more durable but I know the DT Swiss 54 and 60T are expensive.

Please advise.

N.b: First time using mudguards and I’ve since lowered the rear ones.

  1. It appears that your cassette may have come off. This is common for some DT Swiss and Fulcrum wheels. You can probably just put it back on. Here is a relevant video for DT wheels https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXJ2ao-Iq14

  2. Just remove a bit of grease. It’s more about that than about the number of teeth. Also the rear fender will work better if you bring it closer to the tire.

  3. Ideally, you’d get some DT Swiss “Special Grease” when doing that. To grease the ratchet a bit.

Other greases will work in a pinch.
