So I’ve now had multiple chains that have been seemingly ruined by my ultrasonic cleaner like it’s blasted off the factory plating in places and left them subject to corrosion. Anyone had a similar problem? These chains are basically brand new and were cleaned in the ultrasonic cleaner, rinsed and then dried with heated blower and then 2 were drip waxed and then 1 was hot dip wax

What brand chains are you using? I can make out “APEX” in one of the links of the first image but not sure that’s a genuine Sram… could be that they’re just cheap chains and not upto the power of the ultrasonic.
You Destroy them with extreme Cleaning! The factory oil inside of every moving part is irreparable.
Well stop doing that then? The manufacturer definitely doesn’t recommend it and it clearly fucks up the chain.
Chains are relatively inexpensive. I run through chains aggressively. It’s honestly the part I replace more than anything.
The ultrasonic isn’t the the issue.
It’s the type of chemicals in your cleaner that damages the chain.
What type of cleaner/chemicals are you using?
