  1. I recently ordered a **Canyon Roadlite 7**, including the aluminum fenders, which are quite sturdy and fit the bike’s overall design really well.

What was still missing for the perfect city commuter was a permanent lighting setup – meaning a hub dynamo with standlights front and rear. I got tired of constantly recharging battery lights, and in the city they also tend to get stolen.

One downside: the fenders don’t come with pre-drilled holes for mounting lights, so I had to drill them myself. On the positive side, the inner profile of the fenders has cable channels on both sides, allowing you to route the light cable almost invisibly underneath the fender. That’s a very clean solution.

Unfortunately, the carbon fork doesn’t offer internal cable routing, so I had to run the cable externally. Functionally it’s fine, but internally would have looked even better.

Another slightly annoying detail is the 15 mm front axle diameter instead of the more common 12 mm standard. This significantly reduces the range and availability of compatible hub dynamos. Still, they do exist 🙂

Overall, I’m very happy with the result. It would have been even cooler if Canyon offered the Roadlite with a factory hub dynamo option right from the start.
