Itβs that strange week between Christmas and New Year β when routines are fuzzy, legs feel a bit rusty, and getting out on the bike feels like a small win.
Julieβs back on the road bike for the first time in a long while (relearning Di2 along the way), and reminding herself which muscles do what after a short break. No epic scenery, no big goals β just a gentle winter road ride, dodging traffic, cutting through some gravel, stopping for coffee, and enjoying being back out together.
Dry roads, busy paths, a bit of wind, a bit of banter, and the usual Wheelers at Large observations along the way.
If youβre easing yourself back into riding after Christmas, this oneβs for you.
Thanks for watching, and hereβs to plenty more adventures in the year ahead π΄ββοΈπ΄ββοΈ

It's great to see you both out. Happy New Year to you and may you have many adventures ahead in 2026
Julie's saddle is possibly 10mm too high. Very slight rocking side to side.
Happy New Year, Mike and Julie! Hope 2026 is good to both of you.
Iβve not ridden a bike since 1997, Iβve been on Zwift for the last three months, I started at 331lbs, Iβm now 251lbs and today I rode my gravel bike outside for the first time, Iβve been an emotional wreck for the past hour as it felt so amazing
When your in front, tasha said go any way you want. Mike will have to follow. Lol
3 weeks doesn't seem like a long time to be off bike
I got to be I really like your guyβ€ππ I got to be at you do like the view ππ―
You both were clearly enjoying that ride – certainly having a lot more fun than any of those folk in cars were having I reckon!
I love the yarn bombers – a little splash of colour and fun to brighten up the world, always great to see their work when out and about.
I've had mixed results from my bike bell too – from 'don't you ring your bleddy bell at me' (on a cycle path and I only ever ring it to announce my presence never aggressively) to 'why don't you ring your bell…' (after calling out bike on your right, about four times…) People eh? ππ
Good ride!
If you use a bell, have a very loud one and use it in plenty of time to allow it to register into people's brains, panic time, recovery and reaction.
Happy xmas and new year to ye both
Good choice not going under the bypass at canford roundabout, i went through there yesterday and it was 6 – 8 inches of mud, happy new year both.
Julie's bell dunt get on yer nerves does it…..
'Ull' east Yorkshire.
Love you guys, have Happy New Year π
The traffic lights and roundabout gods were with you on this ride. All the best for 2026 …….
Complements to you guys Mike and Julie, looks a nice ride, and I recognised so much of it…love from S.Australia.. Andy and Sue.
Happy birthday hope all is well.
This was beautiful and love the sun being out for you! π―π
