  1. I did this minus the hand trolley on a couple of transoceanic flights.

    It survived except for bent rack stays. Those weren’t an issue on the trips.

    Do be sure to remove the hinge bolts – they can be easily damaged if left in and then you can’t ride.

  2. Not sure why it wouldn’t survive the Tokyo metro. Was quite placid when I used it, and I doubt the Japanese would just start kicking your luggage in a fit of rage.

  3. Just don’t travel during rush hour and you’ll be fine.

    Worst thing will be trying to find the right exit in shinjuku station and carrying it up the stairs constantly.

    Also while technically you have to ride on the road, nobody does it besides fixie riders and roadies.
