Hi, I installed the new chain shown in the picture. When I fitted it I realised I hadn’t threaded properly through the rear derailleur so needed to remove the link and redo. Is it ok to redo the link? I was concerned as it says non-reusable.

  1. Been reusing them for 10 years and never broken one. I always use the same one with the same chain though.

Should be fine, links suck tho.
Get a chain breaker and learn how to put chains together without those links.

“non-reusable” means “we can’t sell you another link if you reuse it” 😎

  4. It’s fine. While not recommended by the manufacturer, the risk of anything bad happening from reusing a quick link is infinitesimally small.

  5. This is a slippery slope. God is watching your actions, and judging you. Thou shalt not reuse the link. Obey the written commandment or suffer the consequences.

As long as it isn’t visibly fucked up and you still feel or hear a click I always reuse them (on the same chain). I don’t mix and match them if waxing a bunch of chains at the same time.

  7. The only ones I ever had issues with are the counterfeit ones.  (And yes, I stopped buying from Amazon)
