When I bought this bike, I thought it was a road bike and the previous owner just put flat handlebars on it at some point. After looking into it, it seems like these handlebars are original and it was sold this way as a "touring bike".
Is the only difference between a race and touring bike the handlebar shape? Could I just put drop bars on this bike, or is there a geometry difference that would make this impractical? Would drop bars even make a big difference in comfort and speed/effort? I want to to ride larger distances with this bike at some point (70-100km).
