  1. I’m not really sure what I’m looking at in the first photo – I don’t recognise what’s inserted into what. Do you have a photo showing the entire thing?

    In general though:

    – clean the grease off so you can actually grip it
    – WD-40 / GT-85 / a serious dedicated penetrating oil ONLY AT THE JUNCTIONS so you can actually grip it
    – heat gun / hairdryer to make the metals expand and hopefully that’ll break any rust connections
    – lots of twisting, again to grind down any rust chunks that are taking up space between the two metal tubes. It’s not pleasant for you or for your bike, but it might be necessary.

    Soak in PB Blaster over night, clamp the fork in a vice upside down, get something sturdy with a bit smaller diameter than the inside of the steerer, then hammer it out from crown to steerer.

    You need to hit the wedge bit down to un jam it. Do you have the long bolt? Put a few threads in and tap it with something

    Aluminum stem in steel fork? Forget it. Choose which part to sacrifice and use a hacksaw and a file.
