      It is a defence method that goes back to the Middle Ages, and maybe further. Think of King Harald's forces being enticed down the hill at the Battle of Hastings in 1066.
      Or look at the classic castle designs, where a weaker outer wall (or at least, its gate) is allowed to fail, and the attacker is forced to turn left to reach the inner gate, thus turning their shield arms away from the defenders on and behind the inner wall. The outer gate is then sealed with a portcullis dropped from above, trapping the attackers between the walls, where they can be eliminated at will through murder holes cut through the inner wall, with no chance of reinforcement. Once complete, the portcullis can be winched up for a feint counterattack to invite the next wave of attackers to pursue them back in, rinse and repeat.
      The only effective peace plan is the total defeat, utter collapse, and complete disarmament and dissolution of the entire Muscovian Empire.
      Make Muscovia small again and free the many nations and republics it currently occupies, oppresses and pillages!

      These tactics strike me as a logical way to do things when you have fewer bodies, but superiour technologies and abilities. Western militaries are paying attention, I just hope they learn the lessons.

      They also mine the place with anti-personnel mines in all the houses, especially on toilets and washing machines. They have been doing this for 2 years in Pokrovsk yet the russians keep falling for it. This tactic is as old as warfare itself. Sometimes the Ukrainians don't fully withdraw, they hide in tunnels and direct fire as well.

      Dont show this to Scott Ritter, or Douglas MacGregor it will skew their Russia ego stroking analysis. I dont condone this war. However, Ukraine is doing a drone trade space for time on Russia and making the cuts of 1000 hurt. And this rope a dope is a perfect method with divide and conquer.

      The Russians used the strategy against Napoleon’s troops when they reached Moscow. Napoleon’s troops had lost their discipline and became extremely vulnerable. The rest is history.

      Doesn't Russia have people observing or are they just planning by the seat of their rear. If something keeps working the first thing I would do is set up a monitoring station to see why no one is coming back. But Russians are too proud to do the easy work and just open the gate for the animals to roam to instant demise.

      Lets be honest here. Since the end of WWll the US has learned nothing from allies. They have had many jr staff second to overseas forces, have come back to spill all the goodies in reports to the head sheds, the result is the report gets classified then locked away, why, b/c the Head Shed ia very arrogant & elitist.
      Example; Australian SAS troopers went in to Vietnam, they included aboriginal trackers, 40lb packs for up to 3 wks in country. The ratio of kills was 50:1. This was buried by the US Head Shed.

      The tactics, develop trough the war is strangely close to WWI.
      First mobil warfare with huge losses.
      Then trench warfare in fixed positions with heavy bombardment and meat assault.
      Finally a deeper system of positions without so many big trenches that can be shelled.
      The difference is they ended with combined warfare and a breakthrough.

      Mr. O Donnel, this method isn’t new though? We (US) are taught to not consolidate on the enemy position once seized because of possibly pre registered fires in their own positions.

      I always said Ukraine is trading land for blood. In a similar way it's the vision nato had pre sweden and Finnland, make an attack as costly and slow as possible to buy time for reinforcement to arrive.

      The huge difference is uaf is using their territory way smarter than nato doctrine envisioned it.

      I'm from the UK, I fought in the Ukrainian International Legion from January to August of 2023, mostly in the Serebryansky Forest, the war was brutal then, drones were a thing but not like it js now, we still rode to our positions on APCs World War 2 style, but the drones and tactics used now, make the entire place a blood bath.. Glad I went when I did, glad I'm not there now.

      I'm pretty sure the Germans did something similar during WW1 only it was when the Allies had properly overrun a trench line the Germans would wait until their troops were out then plaster the position with artillery
