Slovenia and the Istrian countryside. I crossed this region from the foggy fields of Northeast Italy, to the ancient city of Pula. Over quiet gravel roads and alongside crystal clear rivers in the Slovenian mountains, to the sunlit Adriatic coast, and along revitalized rail trails. Through medieval cities, silent forests, seaside paths, and deserted border crossings discovering a world of peace that felt entirely my own.

From May 2022 until June 2024, I went on a 41,500km solo bicycle journey around the world, that took me through 26 countries. This is the 16th episode overall, and the 6th from Europe.

  1. New video! Always looking forward to the next one 🙂 I miss my bike during the winter. Haven't worked up the nerve to try biking during winter time.

  2. Nice, I was planning to go biketouring around Slovenija in 2022, but ruzzia has started a full-scale war on my country and no travels since that moment

  3. Doesnt tire your hips using the belt bag and cycling at the same time? Or you just use it to carry camera equipment when taking a shot?
DAMN those shoes look like they have been in a nuclear blast,
Cant wait to check this route on Google earth and dissect on Qgis,

  4. Thanks for posting this Nathan, beautifully done as always. I was eager to see how you routed thru Friuli. I'm BC-based but keep a vintage tour bike in Friuli, which I've used often over many years. It's a shame your weather was socked in there, as the riding is pretty wonderful. That sudden loss of traction in the Soca valley at the 6:00 minute mark is a persistent nuisance…..always a walk given the 700×32 limit on my old bike , plus my wife's protests!

  5. this was awesome. some of the most pleasant riding in europe. except some of those eurovelo roads… i had a similar experience of preferring to push the bike on a terrible stone path over dealing with traffic.
