I have a newish set of DT Swiss Three Decades hubs custom built up on We Are One hoops for a MTB. Lately I’ve noticed an insane amount of corrosion on the hub flanges, spoke ends and even my discs and bolts.
I live 5 miles from the Gulf of Mexico in the winter for training purposes, and I’ve already had one other set of custom wheels suddenly pop a flange on Onyx hubs.
Is this normal? I spend a ton of money on these wheel sets and I’m disappointed how this set looks, and also slightly concerned about their stability. This is my race MTB and I do long ultras.
I can’t polish off any of the corrosion, but more importantly, how do I prevent this issue from happening on my many other bikes?

It sounds like you need a better place to store your bike. It may be worth contacting DT but the way that everything is corroding leads me to believe this is an environmental issue, not a product issue. Aluminum is just the easiest thing to corrode in salty air so it’s taking the worst of it first.
Assuming you store your bikes indoors (because if you don’t, then you’re SOL) – run a dehumidifer.
