Join me on a 43mile chilly but brilliant group ride with my mates Lawrence and Mike! ๐ดโโ๏ธโ๏ธ
Lawrence travels down from the Midlands whenever he visits his son in the Southwest, and he always makes time for a ride. Mike, local to Okehampton in Devon, joined us too for this scenic winter loop.
We set off from Exeter on a crisp, cold day and pedalled along quiet, narrow country lanes towards the beautiful coastal town of Budleigh Salterton. Along the way, we paused to remember the two swimmers who tragically lost their lives during the annual Christmas Day swim event here โ a sobering moment that highlights the power of the sea, even on festive occasions.
From Budleigh, we continued to the stunning seaside town of Exmouth, where we enjoyed cycling right along the seafront with those classic Devon coastal views. Then it was time to loop back inland to Exeter, wrapping up a perfect ride full of great chats, laughs, and plenty of observational gems from the road.
A fantastic day out with good company and classic Devon scenery โ highly recommend this route if youโre local or visiting!

Nice seeing places I know. I used to live up the road from where you started ๐๐ป
One of my favourite routes is Huntham Bampton from Exeter. I rode it last Saturday. See my Strava
Another Crackin video mate good fun ride m8 ๐
I live in okehampton
Give me Okehampton any day. I live in West London about 10 minutes from Twickenham rugby ground. All I seem to get is bad tempered impatient arsehole drivers. I can only dream of places like this.
Great video yet again pal. Loving the scenery, and your friends seem like great blokes too ๐๐
A cyclist was very badly injured the other day after hitting a pot whole itโs awful and if itโs wet you canโt see them . You have some lovely routes and great to be able to cycle to the seaside.๐
How much difference do you think the battery jackets make in terms of battery performance during winter?
the north sea cold in the summer i did a 10 min swim at lowsoft the life gaurd ask me if i was ok the current was pulling me from shore i said yes my swimming skills kicked in and i swam with the current to sling shot me back back to shore. never again without full swim gear skin suet .winter a no no.and i used to be a strong swimmer
Another great ride with added humor ๐, that runner did look a little strange. I used to drive one of those green Morris GPO vans back in the 60s – happy simpler days fitting telephones. That sea did look cold, roll on summer. What e conversion kit has Mike on his bike, seemed to cope well?
That looked great. I did 43.58 today with less than 2000 ft climbing. 4 :17 Irvine Valley, Ayrshire. On my Boardman hybrid. All the dog walkers had their animals under control, very pleasant, moaning in comments seems to work! ๐คฃ
They sure run funny down your way. ๐
Great ride and enjoyed the banter. ๐
