Welcome to spectacular Rocamadour in France. You won’t find find a more gravity-defying village than this UNESCO World Heritage site. It’s well worth a detour if you are heading south through central France, have a head for heights and don’t mind stairs!

The reward is amazing views across the Alzou gorge and a wealth of early mediaeval churches and monasteries. A village steeped in history, a hugely important site of pilgrimage and sanctuary, patronised by both English and French kings.

For accompaniment I’ve adapted and recorded the 1st movement of Bach’s Double Concerto for Violin and Oboe, now on double clarinets.
