Canyon has just launched the new Aeroad, a bike with speed embedded in its DNA. It’s the fourth generation of a model that has been winning races for the last 15 years. The previous generation dominated the pro ranks, so what has Canyon done to improve it?

First off, the engineers at Canyon collaborated with pro riders and mechanics to find out exactly what they wanted in this bike. Now, we’re headed to Canyon Headquarters to discover more about its development and give you a full breakdown of what’s new in the latest Canyon Aeroad!

  1. The Shofter cable snapped on my mates Canyon Ultimate CF SL 8 (or 9 idk)

Its a 200€ mechanics bill bc there is no access to the internal routing system and the otherwise fine bottom bracket will have to come out, which means it will have to be replaced and I think that was something pretty easy to avoid by simply modifying the internal routing system slightly.

I think when Mechanics ask for a bike thwts easier to work on, they have a point.

  2. buyer beware: Wow look at the nice new shiny bike, it’s a beautiful piece of German engineering, but I want to let you know of my experience with Canyon Aeroad CF SL8. I too was delighted with the thought of a sophisticated bike at a reasonable price point. It came with a 6 year warranty, but that warranty is useless. I have logged over 30 thousand miles on my Specialized Allez with no major issues, I have replaced the gear cable for the rear derailleur a couple of times and the tires only once. My 11 month canyon had to have the bottom bracket replaced after only 5,000 miles. I reported this to Canyon and they are blaming me for not taking proper care of my bike. I loved this bike and looked after it accordingly. Washed at least once a week (no pressure wash) locked in the garage overnight and stored in the basement during the winter. After finding a mechanic who would repair my bike (most technician won’t ever look at a Canyon) he told me that the bottom bracket is a cheap one that has no seal against water and debris intrusion. It breaks my heart to have to write this but if I can at least help one person with this it will be worth it. Canyon did offer me a $75.00 voucher on their web site but to me thats useless.

  5. Hi ! Thank you for that good video.
Please help me with something : i'm about to order the. same bike. The problem is that i'm 1,79m tall (84cm crotch, 74,5cm saddle height). I'm in the middle between the S and M size.
I'm like doing races so my position on the bike is "agressive".

Can you help me to chose the right frame size ? Maybe S but changing the stem from 90 to 130mm ?

    Thanks a lot.

  6. Stainless steel is generally softer, so what you gain in corrosion resistance you give up in bearing hardness and thus long term wear. With all innovations on the handle bars, too bad they didn't go further ergonomically by giving a bit of back sweep and down angle to match the natural position of your hands like the coefficient bars. That stuff said, if I were to get another bike, it'd probably be this one.
