Today, Rapha Manchester closed its doors.

This video isn’t about a building.
It’s about the people who filled it.

For years, the Rapha Manchester clubhouse was a place where rides began, friendships formed, confidence grew, and cycling felt welcoming to anyone willing to turn up.

Despite the weather, more than fifty riders came together for one final ride — not to celebrate, not to protest, but to say thank you.

What Manchester is losing isn’t retail space.
It’s a place that mattered.

The doors may be closed, but the community doesn’t end here.

Ride on.

  1. Damn good video, Russ. I'm sorry y'all are losing the clubhouse — and hope you're able to keep the group together. Texas is so spread out that places like the Rapha Clubhouse aren't all that common. To lose that is quite a bummer thing 🙁

  2. Funnily enough I have never felt any of the attributes you associate to the club. I have only ever felt eliteism, non inclusiveness, and nothing to bring in rookie riders. Its not the fault of the club, it's the fault of cycling in general. Go to Velo Edge at Alderley Edge, go to Pinnerello at Wilmslow (if you still can), and it's the same feel…not welcome here.

  3. Sad. We lost the Spitalfields shop as soon as the pandemic bike boom went bust. I've used the Rajah shops in New York, Singapore and Sydney, as well as the Soho one. I hired bikes in Singapore and Sydney to do mad rides in the heat. Rapha needs more funding.

  4. Glad you documented this emotional moment of a shop closing after 12 years – there are authentic cycling clubs out there still going after 150 years. There's also a great irony in you having written your script for this video using generative AI given Rapha is partially replacing the social function of its physical clubhouses with digital clubs.
