I am trying to find a solution for a 160mm crank length with a 52mm chainline staying within the Shimano world and not going to third party vendors.
I am unable to find authoritative information from Shimano on getting a 52mm chainline if using their newer (8200/9200) cranks. Per Shimano the new cranks (X200 series) are 176 Q factor and 55mm chainline. Per a LoveMTB video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-N91z3m0jWc) using the older SM-CRM85 chainring with the newer (X200 series) cranksets will get you back to a 52mm chainline as the older chainrings have a 3mm offset difference from the new SM-CRM86 chainrings.
However Shimano leaves the chainrings out of their compatibility docs and does not give any offset or chainline information for them, at least that I can find so far.
Can anyone confirm that this is the case or if you know where to find this info on Shimano's website, link to it? Jus to reiterate – that the new 8200/9200 cranks combined with the older CRM85 chainring will yield a 52mm chainline.
