In this video, we cycled 200km along the coast of Portugal. We started in Porto and rode along the coast to Figueira da Foz. Then we turned inland and ended our trip in Coimbra.

  2. Nice video guys, loved it!!
Hope you enjoyed my hometown Aveiro and the rest of the coast line of this beautifull country as much as I enjoyed watching you pass through some familiar roads and new roads.

  3. Bed bugs are not the result of poor hygiene or lack of maintenance. Hotels are not imputable for it as they come with travellers and migth stay dormant for a long time until they eclode. There is absolutely nothing that the Hotel can do to erradicate them unless they are told by guests and shut down rooms to fumigate them. Trash the matrasses, sheets, carpets and fabrics of the room. And even then it is not assured the plague is gone. Sometimes it takes more than one intervention as there is constant material and gear being share between rooms.
Altough customers are perfectly entitled to be pissed, this is one of those situations where noone is really to blame. Those things just won't die and lay eggs everywhere.

  4. Thanks for sharing this very nice video Jan! I also did some of your route in May and can really recommend that month for cycling in Portugal – the weather is warm and mostly dry but not too hot, and the countryside looks even more beautiful in Spring! From Coimbra, if you continue to follow the Mondego river you will discover a beautiful valley ride to Penacova and eventually reach the Ecopista do Dão, in my view one of the most beautiful cycle tracks in Portugal. It follows an old railway line for 50km to Viseu and is absolutely fantastic. 5. 1:00 – Porto only sits in one bank of the Douro river, the northern one. The shouthern bank is Vila Nova de Gaia, a different city.
29:20 – The "u" in Figueira is not pronounced, it should sound like "fee-gay-ra". Btw, "figueira" means fig tree and "foz" is the river mouth.
29:43 – That's not a castle, is a fort. There are two in Figueira da Foz, one protected the Mondego river mouth and the other protected the Mondego Cape.

  6. It's amazing that you are in Portugal, and i only saw you eating italian food, and tacos and so on, when our portuguese food is so delicious, and it's a part of the culture of Portugal. Well, maybe next time.

  7. What a great video. I've been thinking about Bikepacking in Portugal for a long time now. It looks so beautiful.

Can I ask you what camera you use? I have a YouTube channel too, about Bikepacking and I'm using a GoPro Hero 13 mainly. Your colours look amazing.
