I could use some assistance in deciding which bike to choose. I’m torn between two options: the Trek Checkpoint ALR 5 AXS and the Lauf Seigla Rigid. Both bikes come with similar specifications, but the Trek is made of ALR (aluminum) while the Lauf is made of carbon. Currently, I own a carbon road bike and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. However, I’m now looking for a bike that I can use in some of my first gravel races.
My goal isn’t to break the bank on a new bike, and I’m not aiming to win any races or podiums. Instead, I’m hoping to participate in events like Unbound or Big Sugar and add those achievements to my list. I’ve had the chance to test the Trek Checkpoint, and I really liked it. However, I’m a bit hesitant about the Lauf because it’s a direct-to-consumer brand, and I’m unsure about what to expect from it.
So, I’m faced with the dilemma of whether to stick with the safer choice of the Trek or take a bit of a risk and go for the Lauf. Which bike would you guys go with?
