
hello, I came across this image of a ww2 British home guard exercise involving something I’ve certainly never seen before, they have used 2-3 wooden batons (I would hope strapped or clamped) to 2 bicycles in order to put a stretcher with the “casualty“ on.
another interesting thing you see in this image is the bicycles aren’t military mk iv / mk v bicycles they are pre war civilian roadsters (I believe the one of the right may be b.s.a) with seemingly no modifications e.g blackout lamps. This is because the home guard was an emergency defence force and alot of equiptment was private purchase.
