I've cycled in those conditions more times than I care to count. It's not pleasant and you do need a bit of practice, but still preferable to waiting at a bus-stop in the cold in the hope that the bus will come on time. And when you've arrived to where you're going the sense of accomplishment is very rewarding.
I love duch people I lived in Rotterdam for long time. Whenever we needed a bike we were going to train station there free bikes were available. Bikes that owners did not want them anymore I used to bike from zuidplain to hoogvliet everyday. People who know the area it is quite a distance. But I loved it. Good thing is if you bike long distances, from one side wind doesn't help but from other side on return wind helps a lot. Gooie dag…..
