After Nadia’s accident we choose to take it easy for the duration of her and Victor’s time cycling with us. A rest day in Mechelen, with the amazing Belfry of St. Rumbold’s Cathedral, followed by a short ride into Leuven, then a nice day’s ride into Hasselt, and then on to Maastricht in the Netherlands, all the while riding through the sublime, dreamy landscapes of Belgium. Four days without an accident! Woohoo!
If you’re interested in checking out our planned route, we’ve included a link below. Bear in mind that we took deviations from time to time which might not be shown here, but this is 99% accurate!

Beau coucher de soleil à Maastricht
Great to watch your videos on a rainy Friday night. The videos are so well done. Thanks
Roland,
I have more questions about Juliana’s bike. Where did you order the bike and get measured?
I’m in the same boat re: my back.
Good job ! Enjoyable to watch……you folks travel the way I do when in Europe.
Enjoyable ride! Thank you for sharing!
Congratulations!!!
Very nice route! We live in Luxembourg…..did a ride from here to Verona…….Europe is so enjoyable to ride, drink and eat with so much to offer. Great job with the videos…..my wife thinks you sound a bit like Tom Hanks…….what movies has she been watching🤪
Hello Julianna and Roland. As a Belgian, I'm very pleased that you didn't just choose to explore the larger cities in Belgium. Most foreign tourists visit Bruges, Ghent, Brussels, and Antwerp. These are very beautiful cities, but you've only seen a tiny part of Belgium that way. Smaller cities like Mechelen, Leuven, Tienen, Diest, Hasselt, and so on have a lot to offer.
It's not just the cities themselves that make them beautiful, but the roads leading to them. It's a bit of a shame that you didn't always find the most beautiful roads. You could have cycled through the Sonian Forest and the Meerdaal Forest. From Mechelen to Leuven, you could have followed the Dyle River instead of always following the canal. The Limburg Kempen region is truly a cycling paradise with many small roads through the heathland and forests.
I've been following you on YouTube for several years now. It's partly thanks to you that my first multi-day cycling trip, "La Loire à Vélo," was from Nevers to Nantes. So I'm looking forward to your next adventures.
I’m guessing you stayed at Martin’s Patershof right?
It’s funny because I have passed by Mechelen many times on the train. But the train stop is out at the edge of the city, and it didn’t look so great. In fact, it looked a bit awful. But I see now, thanks to you, the city center is much, much better.
My Wife and I just have to ask, did you get to go to and enjoy the Andre Rieu concert in Maastricht? Loving your videos and thank you for promoting the use of helmets.
