Perhaps the nicest guy in the pro peloton, Sepp Kuss welcomes Matt Stephens to his home in Andorra for a Sigma Sports Café Ride with enough high altitude climbing to really test Matt’s legs and lungs.

Known for his poker face in a race situation, the Team Visma Lease a Bike rider was all smiles on his home roads, even when the gradient kicked into double figures. The domestique turned Grand Tour winner is a bonafide people’s champion, always willing to help teammates and in this case; fix Matt’s puncture at the roadside.

A café stop at Hors Catégorie owned by former teammate Robert Gesink was the perfect setting for Sepp to discuss his famous win at Vuelta a Espana 2023, the impact it had on his career, and whether it changed his responsibilities in the team.

  1. A gentleman of the peloton is Sepp, whenever I see him and the team around here from the training camp in Tignes, he’s friendly & receptive. A quality guess at the altitude too Matt 🤘🏽💛

  2. Another exceptional interview by Matt! I love his style and humour 👌🏾 I also think Sepp Kuss is great and such a likeable character but I will NEVER forgive Jonas or Primoz for how they selfishly acted during Sepp’s Vuelta win.

  3. What a place to live and ride everyday. Congrats Sepp on everything. Kudos to the Argentinian butcher, ask him for a good tira de asado, and entraña for your next BBQ.

  4. SUPERB !! This video is a gem, a gift for all bike lovers, sport lovers and everyone. I enjoyed so much every second of it!! Thanks so much, Sepp is a beast, in all senses!

  5. Sepp is pure class, making America proud with each pedal revolution. I was so happy to see Sepp not giving-in to the coffee snobbery by still using his drip coffee maker! Well done!

  6. Sepp didn’t unwrap his trophy because he didn’t win based off merit. He won because he filled a placeholder during an advantageous period of visma victory (Giro,TDF,Vuelta). It was customary.

  7. Well done Matt, another tour de force. You have a real talent at getting into the psychological aspects of the sport and an uncanny ability to draw some great insights from your interviewees

  9. I hate when you make the transitional music volume 485db and then the actual conversational audio requires a doctors stethoscope to hear it…. wtf are you doing editors??
