  1. the town hall is better known as the clown hall and the clown statue is to honour the most usless council ever. hence all the things that are not there anymore

  2. Wallasey Town Hall has been of use again since last summer. Had repairs done. It’s the main town hall now, every service from Birkenhead Town Hall has been moved to Wallasey, whilst Birkenhead is going through repairs (but talk it’s been closed to save money) so Wallasey Town Hall is back open.

  3. Used to be a favourite day out! train from liverpool to New Brighton, walk down to the front a cup of tea in a cafe and then walk down to catch the ferry back to Liverpool! met and talked to some interesting folk! even talked to a guy from the midlands that had come up on the train to fish in the Mersey! yes had some great days out.

  4. If you had of started a couple of miles further back at cammell lairds shipyard, "alabama way" you would of seen a german u boat on display, the worlds first ever submarine built on display, woodside ferry terminal, the one o clock gun, and a few of the old docks where many world war 2 bombs landed, ( one was only detonated in 2007) but nice video anyway mate nice to see

  5. AT 11.14 you show the Lighthouse, think back to those storms in 1990 and the waves were going over the top of this lighthouse, and the strange this is, i dreamed about this happening days before, uncanny or what?

  6. Cycled along here to and from the ferry for three years back in the 80s. Lived New Brighton, Worked off Great Howard Street.

A zipline would have cut my journey from 1hr to about three minutes 🙂

  7. When we were kids my mam would walk us the along the prom, we'd take butties and go on the indoor fair as a treat at the end. Took me back this mate…another winner! Right now for Curiously Lytham!

  8. The photographs by Martin Parr in the original book called "the last resort" from 1986 are worth looking up to see a glimpse of new Brighton in the 80s

  9. Great video, so many interesting facts and history about New Brighton.
I have spent many a days here from being a child and enjoying the outdoor pool, to family days out. Then bringing my own child here to enjoy it all.
Now I frequently walk and cycle in New Brighton. Such a quaint little seaside town.

  10. Pause at 4:11. you'll see an archway that doesn't match the new red brick walls. That be the original entrance to Old Mother Redcaps. a olde inn that told a thousand stories of pirates and wreckers and fencing (not swords). It had a fake weather vane that told the locals, pirates and wreckers if the bizzies were in the area and to stay away. It had a secret passage way that was cut off once the front door was open to keep it from the authorities. You Bimbled right passed it. Legend has it that there is still treasure stashed away beneath the labyrinth of tunnels that haunt Wallasey and New Brighton to this very day!
