I Kno this is not normal. The pawls should extend imediately. I need to know whether it's gunk or bad spring(in my case it's a wire).
Also how do I remove this part to check it properly?
And how much do replacements cost
Take the hub apart and clean both the driver as well as the driver shell with brakecleaner.
Then use just a couple drops of some oily substance before you put it back together.
Pretty certain that will be an improvement 😉
Edit: after seeing the clip a second time, it looks as if your c-clip is loose, meaning it doesn’t apply any pressure on the pawls. Not sure what kind of hub it is, but replacing the c-clip would probably help too!
Edit 2: also look at (or under) the pawls. Maybe the springs are a bit worn out. Either replace them too, or try to (gently) bend them back a bit, increasing the angle, and putting more pressure on the pawls.
Keep in mind this is a makeshift or temporary solution at best, so sooner or later you’ll probably have to replace some parts..
